A Friday in Fall

This morning began hectically. After three hours at the Chicago Public Library doing editorial research for work -- and rifling through well over a hundred magazines -- I had found little of what I was looking for. And the thought of the work that awaited me at my desk was enough to make me feel incredibly stressed. I needed to decompress.

I'd heard about the library's 9th floor atrium and thought this would be a great time to check it out. It was so peaceful and beautiful up there -- and to think I've been living down the street for over a year and had no idea this was right under my nose.

Since my office is clear across the Loop from the library, I decided to walk and soak in the gorgeous fall day a bit more. I took the scenic route via Chicago's famed State Street. So many people were out and about -- I love the hustle and bustle of the city and immediately felt refreshed.

Upon turning in the direction of my office, I passed Daley Plaza, which had its fountain dyed orange for Halloween. I've always found the architecture of City Hall to be beautiful, and I love it as a backdrop to the festive fountain.

Now that I'm in the fall spirit and feeling a bit more relaxed, I'm very happy there are only a few hours of work separating me from donning my risqué cop and Katy Perry costumes and celebrating one of my favorite holidays. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween weekend!
