The Last Day

{The view from 54. I am so glad the weather cooperated for me to enjoy it one last day.}

Today is my last day working at the office. It's a mix of emotions- mostly excitement, but a little bit of sadness too. I've worked with a solid group of people the last two years, and it's strange for that to come to a close. And since I got this job right after I moved here from California, I've grown up a lot in this place. But now it's on to bigger and better things. I'm anxious for what the future has in store (aside from sleeping in, working out, and having time to explore the beautiful city that I've until now only had time to gaze upon).

As I depart the office, I also feel gratitude. I'll be eternally grateful to my boss, who's been equal parts mentor, friend, and supervisor. She's taught me a lot and been great to work for. And I'm really going to miss my other half here, Mandy, who I've spent more hours of the day with for the last 1.5 years than anyone else. Thank goodness for lunch dates.

So thanks, Office, for everything. Now, it's on to the next one.

Thankful Friday : April Fools

It's quite fitting that today is April Fools Day. Why? Because it's snowing in Chicago again and I feel like a fool for believing spring was near. I'd venture to guess that everyone in the Northeast quadrant of the USA is growing very tired of this long winter. (On a side note, I can't believe how much time I spend annoyed with or praising weather. Funny how Chicago's ever changing climate will do that to you.) Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers it's over soon, and in the meantime, I'm finding solace in the following...

{Cubs Opening Day!}

I don't really give a damn about baseball unless I'm seated in the bleachers with an ice cold beer and unobstructed sunlight in which to tan. But, I'm very happy that Opening Day has arrived because it signifies the coming of summer. (Too bad Ansel's neverending Facebook status updates about the A's are sure to commence as well.)

{A reunion with an old friend.}

I haven't seen Lauren in ages. The fact that we were both blonde the last time we were together is testament to that fact. Looking forward to dinner tonight and catching up!

{A relaxing weekend.}

I've been loving my schedule at the bar lately. No more brunch shifts, whichs means being able to sleep in and loaf around, or be productive if I feel like it. I plan on a healthy mixture of both this weekend. On my to-do list: a trip to Ikea and subsequent furniture assembly (since my bed finally broke for good), Sunday mass, gym workouts, and making a yummy breakfast like the one I made here.

I'm also thankful that today is my last Friday working in the office!
But based on my last post, I think you already knew that :)

Happy Friday, everyone!
